FAMILY CAN BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HIGH LEVEL OF MORAL DECADENCE IN OUR SOCIETY.

Family is the first school and the first church a child attends and that is why it is very necessary in the formation of human character. If a child is well formed in a family, it is always difficult to deform the person and any child deformed in character from the family is always difficult to form again.  Family can be held responsible for the high level of moral decadence in our society today with these few reasons.

It is not whole and entire that families should be held responsible but if they have done these few things, it will go a long way to help the society. Many parents are over busy these days in looking for what they will use to train their children and forget about training their children. There are some basic things in life especially with regards to morality that are not learnt in the school but at home but many parents prefer their children to spend their whole life in school.

They go out in the morning, come back tired at night. No time to spend with the children. Many parents these days send their one year old child to daycare, from there to nursery, primary and their secondary education they will live in school. Even those who live with their parents spend more of their time in school for extra lessons. Some allow their children to behave the way they like in their tend age thinking that the person will change when the person grows. It is always difficult for one to abandon what the person grew up with. When a child does what his/her age is not expected to do, the child should be cautioned appropriately. There are things a child should not do. There is time for everything and it is the work of the parents to tem the child. A child of ten watching pornographic videos and pictures when the parents are around and the child is ignored is a distortion in child’s training. And so many others. Some even leave the training of the child to their nannies or house maids who sometimes destroy the behaviour of many children.

Before this era, when a child goes out without telling the parents where the child was going and even when the child told them where he/she was going, on coming back, the parent will always ask the child where he/she went to in order to regulate the movement to avoid the child falling into wrong hands but these days, different things are heard. Parents are no longer interested in the places and people their children go and mingle with. You will ask parents the way about of their children and they will boldly tell you that they do not know. Is it not a distortion?

With these few reasons of mine though not exhausted, I think families are to be blamed in the result of the moral decadence in this present age. Parents should rise up to their duties and children should also value home training for it is almost the highest school and church we can attend for it is the foundation of our lives. Thanks.
