 FROM NWA CHELSEA TO ALEX VON, WHO IS THE NEXT TO DIE?

From December last year to this April we have lost two classmates. The first died in December 2020 by name Nwa Chelsea and now this April we are talking about Alex Von. We all stayed in one classroom in the secondary school. We shared many stories together. We played together. We prayed together. Now they are no more, we cannot do anything together again in this world.

What interests me so much is that since 2012 that we parted from the secondary school, some of us have not met again, some of us have not talked again, some of us have lost contacts. It is true that we have lost physical contact, but I strongly believe that physical contact is different from metaphysical contact, that out of sight is not out of mind. I believe so many of us still have ourselves in our minds but distance may be the barrier. I cannot boast of seeing Alex for once since after our secondary school or even Nwa Chelsea but I always have them in mind likewise so many of us. Now why am I writing this? 

Permit me to ask this simple question. Nwa Chelsea and Alex Von are gone, who will be the next? It might interest you to know that no one wants to be the next but I'm going to tell you the next person that will die. You and I are the next in line. That is not meant for only Nwa Chelsea and Alex or others who have died rather, it is meant for all of us, since it is meant for all of us, then we are the next in line. So many will say Holy Ghost fire, Holy Ghost thunder, it is not our portion. I want to ask you now, is it only the portion of Nwa Chelsea and Alex or others who have died? It is not only their portion, it is our portion, so we must embrace it no matter how we feel, no matter how we run away from it, it must surely come to pass, it is a sure road that all of us must follow. If it is what Holy Ghost fire, Holy Ghost Thunder, it is not our portion could solve, many who have died including Nwa Chelsea and Alex may have said these thousand times and even million times hoping that they have become eldest in their various villages or even Eha-Alumona at large, but look at it now, they are no more. I feel this is pointing to us that Holy Ghost fire and Holy Ghost Thunder, it is not our portion cannot solve this rather we should embrace the fact.

Let me just give you a little history, so brief, in our secondary school days Nwa Chelsea was a friend to many persons. He was a brother to many relations. After our secondary school he continued to be a friend to many persons. He continued to be a brother to many relations. He could not further in the higher institution may be because of one reason or the other, but he went out into the life outside there and made friends also. The tragic thing is that all these friends, all these relations from childhood till December last year, none could tell him that his death was approaching. Not out of bad will, not that they were aware without telling him, but because none of them, none of us knew that it would come that time it came, likewise we should know that our own will not be told to us by any person because no one knows and it must surely come to pass. I believe also that he did not also expect it and he would have wanted to live more but the life was cut short, it is pointing to us that our own may also be cut short one day. What are we going to do if it comes to pass?

Alex was also a friend to many in our secondary school days, a brother to many and even after that he continued to be a friend to many and a brother too many. He went to the university and made many other friends, in the life outside school, he made so many other friends just like Nwa Chelsea, none of them could tell him that this April will not pass by without taking him away from this world. None was aware, if I was away I would have told him, but the funniest thing is that he wouldn’t have believed me, he might have even used it against me that I’m wishing him death. Now how do we follow this? 

 As we have seen that this is a reality, we should know that we are the next in line, Nwa Chelsea and Alex are not Jesus Christ, they have not died for us, they died there death and we are going to die our own. The question comes again. Who is the next person? Tobe Eze, you that is reading this, every person in the world, you are the next to die. Let us always prepare ourselves to embrace this facts that is coming, let us not to use Holy Ghost fire, Holy Ghost Thunder that cannot work, that cannot quench death, to deceive ourselves. We are due to die, we are old enough to die, let us prepare for our individual death because these people who have gone before us did not commit anything worse than what we are doing rather, the time came for them to go and our own time is fast approaching.

The fate of the one who has gone beyond is known to only God and the person involved, we human beings cannot know the fate that we will embrace when we go beyond, is only known to God, we cannot know it, it is better we prepare now so that we will not suffer again after suffering in this world, especially in this country. Let us prepare for our death so that we will not be met by unprepared death rather, let us embrace that happily. Death is not a bad thing because, life does not end, it changes as our Catholic faith teaches us.

Nwa Chelsea and Alex, thank you for dying, you have just reminded me that I am also going closer towards death. I thank God for you and for the fact that you are dead. You are already there, your fate we do not know but we believe in the mercy of God and the resurrection. The mother earth you have embraced, we all are coming to embrace, we all are returning to the dust, for dust we are and dust we shall return. All we hope for is to make heaven. Rest in peace Umunnem. Rest in peace my classmates. Rest in peace Ndioma

6. Jerusalem, ulo ndukwa, nke bu soso anuli, ebe anahu Chukwu anya na ndokwa juru obi.

7. Ka ndi muozi duba gi na Paradise. Ka ndi egburu maka Chineke zute gi mgbe I na abia. Wee durue gi n’ obodo nso, durue gi n’ obodo nso ahu bu Jerusalem

8. Nwanne m lawanuo. Chineke nna kporo gi o. Nwanne m jee zuru ike n’ ogu ebiela

9. Eeh anyi biara abia na eluwa. Eeh, Eligwe bu ebe obibi nke mmadu. Eeh eluwa bu oriri kanyi putara. Onye nojuru, owere isi lebe anyi ni igwee.
