A SHORT STORY (JESUS KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING). By Tobe Eze

Two men were quarreling in a market. They were exchanging insults, curses and telling themselves every derogatory word on earth. At a point, I decided to listen keenly to the contents of what they were saying, likewise many who gathered. Funny enough, these two men are age mates, school mates, friends and from the same community. So they know themselves very well and even some of their secrets. So, they were unearthing many things as the quarrel was going higher. Continue Reading......

One of them called the other one a murderer who had killed all his siblings and even friends. He attributed many deaths in their community to him. The other in response to it asked him if two of them were not in the same group. He said, they go to the same dibia, do the same charm, do the same killing. He further said that he is even better than the other one, that the other one adds hardship to killing. That he does not only kill but he makes people to suffer. He numerated many persons who suffer because of the man. Many secrets were coming out from their mouths. The wife of one of them met her husband to remind him that they were in the market, he shouted on her to leave him alone to expose the other person. People around got interested and were surprised and I myself was too surprised to hear old men say those things in the market. After several minutes, some young people got irritated and held them, started beating them up, that was when they actually realized what they had said and the mess they were into. Trying to say that they were just saying those things out of anger, that none was truth was already too late for them. Angry youths rounded them up determined to kill them. There was serious uproar in the market, thank God for the intervention of the Neighbourhood Watch who came and took them from the hands of the angry youths (I know many would have wanted them to be killed as well, it is natural to want that but much more natural to think before carrying out such task).

When they were taken away, many stories started flying in the air. Some said they were caught giving someone poison in the market, some said they tried to poison someone who is greater than them and he made them to confess, some said God made them to confess, some even added that they were doing charm competition in the market etc. In all these stories, one thing that my mind is still finding very difficult to take is, two of them are Christians. I get confused every day hearing all sorts of ugly stories, how Christians live their lives. I am not claiming to be a saint but there are sins that should not be associated with a Christian, the truth is that no one is permitted to kill but Christians are more prohibited to do that. One of them is a former zonal chairman of his zone and present station provost of his station at the time of the quarrel. Who knows how many persons he had poisoned as a zonal chairman? Who knows how many he has been giving poison each time he serves the station as the station provost? If we cannot trust our Christian leaders who lead in our churches, who then shall we trust? The second person is an elder in a prostestant church. He has been an elder for over a decade in that church. He has served in many occasions in the church. Who knows how many persons he had poisoned in that church. People trusted him and he was dealing with them.

These two people have served in different capacities in their community. They always show people their good side and people trusted them with their lives. If you hear them speak in meetings, churches, even when they preach, you would just conclude that angels are living among men, unknowing to people that they have been the cancer in the body of the community.

If we have these kind of persons in our churches, how then can we preach to people to come and worship the true God with us in our churches? You want people to leave their churches to come to your own church when nothing good is coming out from your church through you, people only see evils. You want a pagan to become a Christian when the devil is even surprised seeing what you do as a Christian. Ka anyị na echeckkwa nu.

Since I heard this quote, I have fell in love with it. “Jesus knows what he is doing.” If not that Jesus knows what he is doing, so many bad Christians would have killed everyone because they are being trusted as ndị uka, but God saves his people. Those he allowed to be killed is still for a purpose, he really knows what he is doing. If not that Jesus knows what he is doing, there would not have been quarrel between them and truth would not have come out the time it came out. They would have killed more and caused more hardships. Jesus knows what he is doing. Though we have bad Christians, let us not look at them, let us work on being better every day and gradually, they will fadeaway. If we are bad Christians, let us not continue in it, please let us change so that ugba anyị ga adị ka isi ya. So that we would reflect what what answer. Happy Weekend
