THEME: WHAT ARE YOU ATTACHED TO? (WHAT ARE YOU MARRING?).
A man (an academician) told his wife and children, for no reason should they disturb him anytime he is in his study except on issues of life. The day he died, he stayed two days before his family could notice that he was dead. Because of the marriage between him and his books, his wife and children could not summon courage to go to him in his study till when they noticed that it was becoming too much and the wife entered and saw him dead on the seat with one of his books in his hands. He was married to his books. Continue Reading.....................

That the first reading talks about wife is not strictly directing it to only wives but also husbands. He/she who finds a worthy wife/husband will entrust everything on him/her. The person will make him/her his/her second person. Husband or wife here is not only human beings but also other things we are attached to. Ask yourself what you are attached to? In the second reading we are told that the day of the Lord will come like a thief, if we know this, then we will be wise in making choice of the type of thing or person we marry, so that it will not take us when we are not ready. In the Gospel, we saw how attached the three servants were to the money given to them. The first is partially attached that was why he used it, the second is also partially attached but the third is too attached that he could not use it for anything. This is just reminding me when I was small, after Christmas, every I will go and recount the money I realized from Christmas and that was giving me joy. Again, when they buy me new thing I will keep it and stick to the old one.
After oneself, there is another thing one should love so much. Here I may say that God should be part of us, so, another thing we are talking about is what will help us to always do what God will like or what pleases him. A story was told of two poor men in a certain village. One day a man decided to be giving them money to use and share some. Their names are, Donatus and Titus. When Donatus receives, he donates to people as his name and still had some left for himself but Titus, when he receives tights it very well as his name also is. He does not eat talk more of sharing it. After a long time the man came home, asked people about the two and he was told everything and he stopped giving Titus.
He who is married to doing good, what pleases God will be giving more knowledge of God but he who is married to doing evil, the little good he has will be taken away from him. He who has goodness in him will be given more and even the little evil in him will be taken away from him but he who does evil will be the opposite.
It is good when we examine our actions very well. Everything we have and are, are not our own but God owns them. Let us try and be open with them. It is risky to take risk and more risky not to take risk. The last servant was avoiding taking risk and he landed on losing everything. Everything thing we do on earth is risk and the earlier we realize it and live our lives in a virtuous way the better for us.

God does not give us what is above us. In the parable, it is recorded that the master shared them according to their strength. The problem is that we always think we suffer more than others. A story was told of a man who was carrying his cross as Jesus directed. As he was doing that, he was complaining all the time. At a point Jesus asked him to go inside one room keep the cross and look for another one that is lighter. When he entered, he saw those that were like him. When he kept it he went around the room looking for another one. Because of many who were there looking for another to change, his cross was shifted far from where he left it. When he reached it, he could not recognize it again and rushed it for he said it is too small. When he wanted to go, he saw his name on it and when he watched it very well, he saw that it was that one he kept, that was when he realized that God is very much just to us. He gives each according to his/her strength. God knows us in and out, he gives us what he knows that we can carry. It is when we marry another thing we will think that God takes where he did not sow as in the parable. He only takes what belongs to him. The last servant was too attached to the small money given to him and he could not get more. When we become too attached to useless things the good one will not come. Let us marry the good and more will come. THANKS AND HAPPY SUNDAY.
