The Transfiguration of the Lord – Feast By Tobe Eze

The Transfiguration of the Lord – Feast
FIRST READING
Daniel 7:9—10, 13—14
SECOND READING
2 Peter 1:16—19
GOSPEL
Matthew 17:1—9
THEME: ALL POWER, GLORY, MAJESTY AND HONOUR BELONG TO HIM.
Lord, it is better we make three tents here, one for you, one for Elijah and one for Moses. If you are in the presence of God, you will lack nothing. Peter noticed that he was in the presence of his master and forgot himself for he knew that all things are in him and anyone with him has a share in them. He has everything we need in this passing world and the everlasting world.
Why do we go about looking for things that have nothing in them? In the first reading, Daniel saw a vision where everything good was given to the son of man. In the second reading St. Peter repeated what happened on the mountain of transfiguration. Gospel tells us about the transfiguration.
We can be transfigured in this life. Jesus’ transfiguration was a way created for us to follow. We have to go up to the mountain of transfiguration so that we will be transformed. Continue Reading....................

Where is that mountain of transfiguration? The mountain of transfiguration is in our own hearts. The best transfiguration we shall experience in life is the one we do from inside to outside. All evils we commit today come from our hearts. Killing, stealing, adultery, idolatry and every other sins we commit are products of our hearts. That is the reason why Jesus said that what goes into one do not destroy one but what comes from inside. Let us go up to the mountain of transfiguration in our heart and see the Lord on top of it. He who has all powers, glory, majesty and honour belong to. He is waiting for us to recognize him like Peter and build his tent in our hearts. He is waiting for us to come up to that mountain of transfiguration. We have to swallow many things before going up to the mountain of transfiguration. We have to swallow majorly our pride for it is like mother to some other sins. Let us learn from this story. EVERY COIN HAS TWO FACES. Once upon a time a man and a lion were journeying together. To kill time they started talking. For some time they talked happily but then one of them began to boast of his prowess and claimed to be superior to the other. Soon the argument heated up and there was a fear of a fight. Luckily, they came to a cross-road where a beautiful statue stood that showed a man strangulating a lion that looked helpless and was ready to die.  The man said, Look there! Doesn’t it prove my point, Mr. Lion? The lion replied, Its your view. But if we lion make statues, we shall show the man under the strong paws of a lion. The man had no words to reply. So, they both cooled down and moved ahead. There is total submission on the mountain of transfiguration. Let us pray to our transfigured Lord to help us be transformed in our hearts so that we may make that heaven we are looking onto. THANKS AND HAPPY SUNDAY.
