THEME: IT WILL BE A SURPRISE TO US.
Advent as we all know is the
preparation of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The three readings are
telling us about the coming of the Son of Man. The first reading tells us “In
days to come, the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established as the
highest mountain and raised above the hills”. The days of the Son of
Man will glorify God. Coming of the Son of Man is no more coming in flesh but
coming into our hearts, into our Spirits. When a recognized personnel wants to visit
us, we prepare in a very big way. We try to please the person through what we
prepare for the person. Let in the same way or even more than that prepare
for the day of the Son of Man. Last Sunday we were shouting in the top of our
voices proclaiming Christ the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Continue Reading
Now, today being the first day of preparation for the Birth of our Lord, birth no more in flesh but in our hearts, we are called to prepare ourselves both physical and more spiritually. Preparation for this great coming should be to receive what the Lord has prepared for us, “the things that no eye has seen and no ear has heard, things beyond the mind of man, all that God has prepared for those who love him. Ihe nti n' anụbeghị, anya ahụbeghi nke ọ n' abata n' obi mmadụ bụ ihe Chukwu kwa debere anyị”. But the problem is. When is this going to take place? Is it on 25th December or when? This is the more reason why we should prepare more on spiritual life than bodily because no one knows tomorrow. Echi dị ime anyị amaghị ihe ọ ga amụ. The Gospel also made it clear that we will not know when the Son of Man will come. The motto of scout movement is Be ready, let learn from them so that it will not take us unawares. Let us use this Advent to come back to God ask for his blessings, surely we will get them. The last verse of the gospel tells us “Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Let us learn how to forgive, do good and more especially the Sins of omission should be at the back of our minds. We should be conscious of that. The day of the Son of Man may not be or also may be on 25th December. Prepare always and wait for him. As you prepare remember for Christmas remember Psalm 127: 1 Except the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the Watchman wakes but in vain. Let us also go back to our own root which is Jesus Christ our Lord SO THAT IT WILL NOT BE A SURPRISE TO US, THE DAY OF THE SON OF MAN. THANKS AND HAPPY SUNDAY.
