THEME: CARING KING (IT IS NOT OUR FAULT THAT HE IS OUR KING)

Today we celebrate CHRIST as the universal KING. It did not end that he is the UNIVERSAL KING but also a CARING KING. In the first reading, the people of Israel went to David in humility, and anointed him their king. David ruled his people with caring heart and that was a typical example of how the son of David (Christ) has been ruling his own chosen generation. In the second reading, St. Paul tells us who the king of glory is. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he himself might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile all things for him, making peace by the blood of his cross through him, whether those on earth or those in heaven. He is like the pelican bird that uses its blood to feed its young. A STORY: There was a community that suffered death, they meet their Oracle who told them that the only way out is to sacrifice seven male heads. And they must be from that community. The community gathered for meeting to know those that will be sacrificed. Co

The old men said, young men should be while the young said the old. At the end the old were chosen. They have six old men and the king. After sacrificing the other six, then who will be the seventh person? The young men said, the king should do it while the king said one if the young men should do it for the community needs him most. Despite all pressures and every other things, the king refused to sacrifice himself for the community. But today’s gospel tells us that Jesus sacrificed himself for us on the cross of Calvary. And second reading also tells us that he makes peace by his blood (Colossians 1:20). IT IS NOT OUR FAULT THAT WE HAVE A KING THAT CARES FOR HIS SUBJECTS. Anyị nwere Ezigbo Eze. Chi Ka Chi Nile, Eze ndị Eze, Odogwu karịrị Odogwu. We are lucky to have you as our king. Thanks for accepting us to be your subject. We promise to come back to you today as Israelites did in the first reading. Chịrị anyị gawa. GI ka anyị ga ekpere ututu, ehihie na abalị maka n' ịbị Ezi Chi. If we are out to serve the king of kings and Lord of Lords, let us do it with all sincerity, let our yes be yes and no be no for anything apart from this comes from the evil one (Matthew 5:37). The consequence of dual worship may not favour us. A STORY: The Giant and The Traveler a giant was roaming around the forest. It saw a hungry traveller shivering in the cold. The giant got sympathy and called him to his cave.
On the way the giant saw the traveller blowing air through his mouth at his fingers. When the giant asked for the reason he replied that he was heating his hand by the air from his mouth.
After reaching the cave, the giant served him a cup of hot soup. On receiving it, the traveller again started blowing air by his mouth at the cup. The giant was surprised and asked why he was again doing the same thing and whether the heat was not sufficient for him. But the traveller replied that he was cooling the soup then. Now the giant got suspicion and said, "You are blowing both heat and cool from your one and the same mouth. So I can't believe such a cheat. Run away from here or else I will kill you." The giant chased him off. MORAL: Nobody believes those who have dual word. Even Christ himself will not accommodate us if we become dual in our worship.
I as a person suggest we follow Eze ndị Eze. ONLY HIM IS THE CARING KING.
THANKS AND HAPPY SUNDAY
