LIFE NO BALANCE (ỤWA ADIRỌ BALANCE) PART ONE. By Tobe Eze

FIRST THING FIRST BIKO

E go choke some people as I dey change name of the title anyhow. They said change is constant and Nigeria is a living testimony to it. So, make I also join dey change anyhow. May things are not balanced in this life and I think it will be wonderful if we see them and know how we can help ourselves.

I have been wondering what gives some people joy in this life. After watching some of us, I swear E dey choke me. How can someone that his family is going hungry every day be answering Ome ego 1 na South? Some people are very good in pleasing people very far from them and who may not even appreciate the gesture and leaving those very close to them who are in serious need of help. How can a man go to church’s bazaar and be the highest donor while his maid in the house is home because of school fees? His parents in the village are already fetching water with buckets each time it rains inside their rooms because of faulty roofs? His brothers and sisters both nuclear and extended are finding it difficult to feed very well? Onwere ka odi. I am not condemning donation in the church, I also benefit from that, I am only pointing at first thing first. Let us start from the grassroots. Continue Reading.......

How can a student be executing projects in his school which the school authorities can do and he has classmates who labour day and night to get their school fees and he does nothing to help them. Some are paying from their noses and he is very much aware of that fact without helping from the abundance he has but be giving to bags that are already filled? Why not channel that charity where it is needed and not where it will be wasted? Funniest thing is that the school authorities will still claim the project, collect money for the project from the high authority and share it among themselves. The school will only flatter you but that poor student or students you have helped will always remain grateful to you and will always pray for you. I think his or her or their prayers will help you more than those hypocritic names that would be given you and those claps that criticism will follow up immediately. There is nothing you will do that people will not criticize, only choose the best. It is not a sin to help the school if you have it, just check where your help is needed most.

Can you imagine that someone will meet a brother privately seeking for financial help and the brother will tell the poor brother that he does not have anything to give. When the help will be presented publicly, the rich brother will now have more than any other person and will donate more than others. On that also, he will advise people to meet people in private than coming to the public. Who do you want to impress? If you cannot do charity in private, then something is wrong somewhere, just know it that you are not doing charity categorically, you are acquiring firm. You are creating attention for yourself. Even Jesus adviced us to do charity privately. There is also good aspect of public charity, it can make others to follow the same line and extend their hands to do charity, but you should watch critically the situation before you do that. Check your motive for doing that and the consequences that may follow.

I am still confused about people who can buy drinks for their friends and relations to drink to stupor but cannot help to establish any of them. If this thing is not giving you concern, it is seriously giving me and disturbing me. Once you are around, people will drink themselves to death, eat different types of meat and fish, visit every expensive eatery in the town but none will make it in life through you. They will be hailing you for making them lazy and you will be rejoicing. Funniest thing is that those who have handworks and shops close up to join them in the doings. Wasting promising youths in the name of doings. Please ooo, biko biko, do not make me to believe what people say about such people. That they are ritualists and they take people’s talents through that. Do not make us to suspect you. Even if you do not take their talents spiritually, you are taking it physically, for making those who are learning works and businesses to stay back because of your doings, making those who have handworks and shops to close because of your doings is already a problem physically. First thing first, convert those doings into helping future and it will benefit people and you, more. Of course I also like doings but let it be a responsible doings.

In all, none of these is bad in itself but how we go about them, the means we follow, our motives for them or our intentions, the results that follow etc. If we can sit down and think about first thing first, we will have a better and sweet world. We can place our seats and tables in a way that the world will look as if it is balanced but ụwa adirọ balance at all. Thanks and Happy Weekend
